The High School of Criminological Sciences - CRINVE, FDE Institute of Mantova had managed a panel session about the criminal connection between Domestic Violence and Pet Abuse, that is the first aim of DOMPET-VIOLENCE. The overall aim of DOMPET is to understand and underline dynamics and factors involved in this criminal connection, to become more insights into the processes of animal abuse and domestic violence in terms of prevention.
Italian researchersMr. A. Puccia (Coordinator) and Dr. F. Gradante (Psychologist) talk about their pilot survey on women/children and animal shelters in terms of cooperation. The purpose of "An Italian pilot investigation on women and animal shelters about a criminal phenomenon" is to understand if there are already forms of collaboration between these two kind of facilities in the Italian territory, especially when the worry for the companion animal is the cause for a late complaint for the battered women. Interesting data coming from this survey, and also interesting is the comparison with some significant data coming from the Ascione, Weber and Wood (1997) survey.
